SNS Pine Pollen Review
In our continued quest to find some of the more useful and sometimes unknown single ingredient products in 2021, we find ourselves back at the doorstep of Serious Nutrition Solutions (SNS). We’ve talked up their growing line of single ingredient products in the past and recently dropped a few reviews on their Baseline and Health Series items which is where you can find a ton of single ingredient and general health & wellness products. This review may be a little different than some of our single ingredient reviews in the past, as it’s one we haven’t really heard much about and have NEVER reviewed it in our history of sports supplement reviews! Enter SNS Pine Pollen, yes Pine Pollen, a natural testosterone booster, libido enhancer, and overall performance optimizer. Now, like always, when we review a product with claims of testosterone boosting properties, we have to note—no you will not become an IFBB Pro bodybuilder after one bottle. With that in mind Pine Pollen is a very interesting ingredient with a host of positive properties that have been shown to improve performance in the gym AND the bedroom! Ready to learn more? What is Pine Pollen: Although you may not have heard of Pine Pollen yet, it is gaining more and more traction in the sport supplement and overall health and wellness industry. We are starting to see more and more supplements for “aging” men and women contain ingredients like Pine Pollen rather that Horny Goat Weed or Tribulus; a staple in years past. It wasn’t until recently, within the last 6 months, that sports supplement formulators like SNS decided to take a deeper look into this ingredient to see how it could benefit gym rats as well! Pine Pollen is a powdery substance discharged from the male part of specific pine cone trees. Like most pollens, pine pollen in nature can have its negative side effects; itchy eyes, runny nose, congestion, etc. If you have a pollen allergy, it’s always best to consult with your doctor before trying Pine Pollen. However, despite a couple of us here at Modern Athletic Health having seasonal allergies, we are happy to report we did not experience any congestion, runny or itchy nose, eyes, or other traditional allergic reactions! Pine Pollen is not a traditional pollen, in fact it is one of the few that has been used for hundreds and even thousands of years as a beneficial health and wellness ingredient!
What are Pine Pollen’s Benefits? So now that we know what Pine Pollen is, lets dive into what its benefits are and how it’s been used. One of the most unique features of pine pollen is that it actually has slight nutritional value; containing traces of protein, carbohydrates, and fatty acids, along with a host of vitamin and minerals. Pine Pollen has been touted as a “superfood” as well due to its antioxidant content and its ability to act as an adaptogenic herb! That’s right, much like Peak O2 and Ashwagandha, pine pollen has adaptogenic properties to help your body handle and cope with various stressors. Although pine pollen has a host of benefits related to general health and wellness, lets start talking about the real benefits you’re after—the testosterone and libido enhancement. Before we talk about that, it is very important to note that pine pollen is completely safe for both men and women to supplement with as it requires no PCT, and is non hormone altering. For years, pine pollen has been used as a testosterone support ingredient, and most importantly, a libido, vitality, stamina, and performance enhancer in the bedroom! This is because pine pollen is a natural source of Phyto-androgens, or precursors to male hormones. We avoid and talk so much about Phyto-estrogens due to them being so prevalent in soy-based ingredients, that we often forget about the importance of using and supplementing with Phyto-androgens! Our Thoughts: As we do with most supplements that have testosterone-boosting claims, we like to run the full bottle before making our review, just to ensure we are experiencing the claimed benefits and not missing out on anything. To be quite honest, going into this review, we were more skeptical than we have been in the past due to it being a new ingredient and one we have rarely heard of before! The first week of our supplementation we did not feel much. Maybe a slight increase in libido, minor gym improvements and natural energy-- minor positive benefits but nothing to write home about. Week 2 was a completely different story. Drastic libido boost, increased feelings of confidence in and out of the gym, and a “performance” increase to say the least! We also noticed improved recovery from gym sessions and increased sleep quality. Week’s 3 and 4 were much of the same; continued increases in libido, bedroom performance, and feelings of confidence. Sleep was also outstanding from week 3 on and we’ve noticed slight body composition changes. The biggest benefit we’ve noticed, if you couldn’t tell, is the libido increase. While we could not get labs ran to see what type of changes occurred in our testosterone levels, we can definitely verify anecdotally that libido and feelings of confidence increased dramatically over the course of our run. What did we note over our complete run? Check this list: • Increased Libido/sexual performance/stamina • Minor Strength gains • Slight body recomposition (less fat, muscles appeared fuller) • Improved recovery from training sessions • Improved sleep quality • Improved focus at work • Increased hunger • Increased feelings of confidence and well being
While we didn’t expect major gains in size or strength, incredible weight loss, or to look like a fitness model by the end, we were presently surprised by the how much pine pollen exceeded our expectations! Even with the moderate increases in gym performance, sleep, and recovery, the sexual health benefits alone make this a great product to add to your stack! For us, Pine Pollen will be an absolute staple to our AM and PM supplement regimen. SNS said it best—if you feel like you’ve lost your mojo, you’re in a rut, or you’re just tired of feeling run down all the time, a little boost to the testosterone pool may be exactly what you need to feel like yourself again!
